ANZAC Day ceasefire

ANZAC Day ceasefire.

"They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

They mingle not with laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam."

The Battle of Albert Park

From their artillery battery on the hill in Albert Park, the invaders commence their bombardment of Auckland City

Looking for an advantage in the struggle

Hit the decks a'runnin' boys, to spin those guns around

But the cavalry may be on its way

They are!

... battle ensues ...

... dino bombardiers turn to fight ...

... then think better of it ...

... some quicker than others ...

... run, dinos, run ...

Unfortunately, the 4-legged blue dino thinks and runs slower than the others!

Leaving him at the mercy of the army's fire

With the expected result

An important victory for the army

The dinos are driven off, and their artillery captured!

The defenders have won t his battle, but that's not the war!

Red platoon checks out the facilities

Meanwhile Red platoon is checking out the facilities in the burbs

Although this invasion is not really a walk in the park

And where do you think you are going?

Oh. I see. Well it's a long way up there. Are you sure?

Uhuh. You'll have trouble getting that baby off the ground!

Ok, that's better. Have a play while you still can

Get right into the swing of it!

Blue squad on patrol

Yes, it has been six weeks since the dinosaurs started their unprovoked invasion.

The battles have settled down to small-scale skirmishes as both sides prepare themselves for the big push from one side or the other that will decide the outcome, once and for all.

Today the Blue squad were out on patrol ...

... carefully scouting out their surroundings

Looking for a way through the army defences

but perhaps just a little too confident

Oh dear, they've been spotted!

Run, boys - I mean, dinos, run ...

Careful, little fella, it's a long way down, and you don't want to tri ...

Oh, damn!

It's going to be a hard landing

Ouch! That's gotta hurt!

Hmmm, maybe he's tougher than I thought ...

Oh No! Look out!

Whew! That was a near miss!

But the danger is not over yet ...

Lords of the City - NOT YET YOU'RE NOT!

The reptilian horde mills around aimlessly, secure in the knowledge that they are lords of the city.

Or maybe, just maybe, not!

Oblivious to the threat, they chat amongst themselves

While in the distance ...

Closer ...

And the engagement commences!

But it would appear some have no stomach for a fight ...

The others, though, set to with a will

Avert your eyes, if you are easily upset

But the army does win this round

A small but telling victory
